The most recent chapter in the history of the Sawyer Market began in February, 2007, when we purchased the property, cleaned, renovated and repaired the lower level, and eventually reopened the market on May 10 of that year.  In the course of due diligience related to the purchase and a PhaseOne Environmental Assessment, we began to investigate the history of the market and the building, a process which is still evolving.  As we find out more about the many previous owners and their uses of the building, we will use this page to record the story of the property, a story which is intertwined with the history of Sawyer, MI.
